What is recorded here

Killavilla holds a forty-one-metre earthen ring where children may have slept beneath the soil after the fort fell empty. The shallow ditch and southern gap remain visible on the upland, waiting for footsteps that no longer come. What is certain is the shape; what is whispered is the purpose. Both belong to the same place, and neither should be erased.

Situated on flat land in upland area. Raised circular area (diam 41m; ext. H 0.5m) enclosed by shallow fosse with possible entrance gap (Wth 3.5m) at S. Known locally as the cillin (OF043-057001-) which would suggest that this ringfort was reused as a childrens burial ground (Roe 1945, 263-6).
