What is recorded here
Killaneer holds a forgotten ringfort, buried beneath soil and time. No wall or ditch remains for hands to touch, yet the land still carries the shape of human life. This is not a failure of memory, but a reminder that earth keeps what eyes refuse to see.
Tradition of ringfort; no visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
