What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle E-facing slope in a field named 'Church Field' on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. The graveyard consists of a D-shaped enclosure (dims. 45m NE-SW; 30m NW-SE) defined by an earth and stone bank with external drystone facing. No visible grave-markers and no indication of a fosse or entrance. A much larger D-shaped enclosure (dims. 80m NW-SE; 90m NE-SW) shown only on the 1838 map (encircling the smaller enclosure) is not visible at ground level. The site of a possible Man-made underground passage marked on the map as 'cave' lies immediately to the W (WI034-014003-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 30 July 2013
