Carrickcloney Ringfort (rath)

Carrickcloney Ringfort stands in County Kilkenny as a quiet earthwork, its boundary still marking the edge of a life long forgotten. People may have built it to keep out rain, wolves or neighbours, and they may have stood inside it watching the flat Irish sky turn red at dusk. The land has swallowed most of that activity, but the circle remains, patient and unexplained, waiting for someone to imagine what it protected.
