What is recorded here

Fairy fort / ringfort in Kilgar is a fairy fort or ringfort in Kilgar, County Westmeath, Ireland. The site sits on a natural hillock in gently undulating pasture-land with good views in all directions, and the 1837 edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map depicts it as a sub-rectangular area measuring approximately 42 metres north-south and 46 metres east-west. The earthworks are almost completely levelled, surviving only as a four-metre-wide band of vegetation, while vague traces of two rectangular hut sites and cultivation ridges aligned north-northwest to south-southeast remain in the interior. A gap in the vegetation at the west-northwest may represent an entrance, and the site is clearly visible as a cropmark on a Digital Globe aerial photograph taken in November 2011.
