What is recorded here
According to Bence-Jones (1978, 166) the present ‘Kildangan House’, dating to 1882-6, and in the Victorian-Jacobean style, stands on the site of an earlier castle which had square corner towers, and which was dynamited in 1882. The castle was originally in the possession of a branch of the Fitzgerald family. (Killanin and Duignan 1967, 379)
