Uragh Stone Circle

Five low stones and one tall guardian mark a small D-shaped circle between Lough Inchiquin and Lough Cloonee Upper, preserving a Bronze Age address on the Beara Peninsula. The tall stone reaches ten feet while the recumbent axial stone lies opposite the entrance, shaping a chamber where people may have gathered, buried their dead or watched the sky. Treasure seekers have bitten into the centre since, yet the circle still stands beside other monuments, waiting to give back what it knows.
