What is recorded here
On slightly undulating pastureland. A natural pool was located c. 100m to the NW. Excavated in 2008 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road improvement scheme (Licence no. E3916). A small sub-oval trough (L 0.82m; Wth 0.74m; D 0.47m) with small stake-holes around the perimeter indicating a possible lining. Two large pits (L2.7-3.18m; Wth 2.2-2.06m) were connected to the trough by a shallow channel and may have been related to water management or storage. A small pit was adjacent to the trough. A very small burnt spread was identified. Ash charcoal from the fill of the trough was radiocarbon dated to 2457-2202 cal BC (UBA-13119). (Wierzbicki 2010, 250, no. 946; Wierzbicki and Coughlan 2012)
