Hermitage in Jamesgreen: tradition holds St Rioc lived here in the 5th century and his followers raised a church beside his hermitage. The exact spot has slipped away, leaving only the wider circle of church, graveyard and holy well where his shadow still moves. What is lost is the small chamber, door and dwarf-wall; what remains is the shape of his devotion, drawing people back into Jamesgreen.

There is a tradition that St Rioc, also known as Rioch or Rock, lived here as a hermit in the 5th century and that his followers founded a church at this location (O'Carroll 1974, 57). The precise location of this hermitage is unknown within the general area of St Rioc's church (KK019-025001-), graveyard (KK019-025002-) and holy well (KK019-025003-).
