Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

On a gentle S-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 42.3m N-S; 37m E-W) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (at S: Wth 3.4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.9m; at N: Wth 7m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.8m) NNW-E-SSW which is reduced to a scarp and barely traceable elsewhere, and a rounded fosse (Wth of top 7-7.5m; Wth of base 2-2.7m; D 0.1-0.8m) NNW-SE. The entrance (Wth 1.9m) is at SSE. Archaeological monitoring (03E0914) of road-widening works, c. 100m to the S failed to produce any related archaeological material (Rooney 2006).
