What is recorded here

On flat poorly drained pasture with good views in all directions with nearby Slieveardagh hills to SE and a possible moated site (TS043-037----) 40m to SW. A small, almost square-shaped ringfort consisting of a raised interior (dims. 19m NE-SW; 17m SE-NW) enclosed by an earthen bank (top Wth 1.5m; base Wth 4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.6m) and outer fosse (top Wth 5m; base Wth 1.5m; ext. D 0.5-1m). The bank has been partially levelled and the outer fosse filled in on the W side of the enclosure which appears to give it a square shape. On the 1st (1840) and 2nd (1903) ed. OS 6-inch map the ringfort is depicted as a small circular enclosure. The shape of the monument has possibly been altered due to cleaning up or tidying up of perimeter around the monument by the landowner. The monument is in good condition with several bushes growing around its perimeter. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
