What is recorded here

Situated at the tip of a NW-SE spur. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 23.6m N-S) that slopes down to the SE (H 2.2m). It is defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.1m) WNW-NE but most of the perimeter is formed by an overgrown scarp (at S: Wth 3.2m; H 1.8m). There is no clear evidence of a fosse but a slight berm (at S: Wth 1.5m) can be seen in places and a farm track surrounds the monument NW-E-SE. There are many gaps in the perimeter but one at SSE (Wth of base 1.4m) might be the original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 11 December 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
