Rectangular area (c. 21m N-S; c. 22m E-W) projecting SW into Atlantic. Neck, at N angle, crossed by rock-cut fosse (D 4m). Directly inside are remains of Dunowen Castle (CO144-041002-) occupying most of interior. Seaward end of promontory slopes down steeply to W; sheer drop on E side.
