What is recorded here

On a gentle E-facing slope in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Described in 1975 (SMR file) as a subcircular enclosure (diam. c. 25m), the N half of which was defined by a low bank of earth and stone and the S half by an embankment; the external face of both was faced with stone. A shallow external fosse was also evident. Farm buildings encroached on the monument at W and it was used as a paddock. The enclosing element is incorporated in field boundaries. No visible surface trace survives at W. A coniferous tree plantation lies immediately to its SSE and S. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 14 February 2012
