Enclosure

What is recorded here

In pasture, located on a small terrace at the NE end of a narrow, steep-sided N−S glen. At W it overlooks a pool, surrounded by boggy ground in the base of the glen. This enclosure is not shown on the 1837-8 OS 6-inch map, but is shown on the 1922 edition. It consists of an oval area (c. 20m NNW-SSE; c. 13.5m ENE-WSW) defined by remnants of a low, stony bank or wall (Wth 0.8m; ext. H 0.4m) on the SE half, and an almost vertical scarp (H 0.45m) faced with stones to NNW. The interior appears to slope down to NW and W. Dense overgrowth impeded inspection.
