In fairly level pastureland. Good views to the S and E. A small, two storey , deserted farmhouse beside the road bears a plaque commemorating the birthplace of General Philip H. Sheridan, general in chief of the U.S. army(b.1830, d.1888).
The shield was erected on 20/06/1969 by the Irish Veterans of the US army of World War 1. It contains an inscription 'He belongs to the very first rank of Captains, not only of our own army but of the world's. I rank him with Napoleon and Frederick, and the great commanders of history' Ulysses S. Grant.
The farmhouse is a stone built 19th century structure.
