What is recorded here

Located on a gentle W-facing slope. In 1655 Nicholas King received a grant of the forfeited Barry land at Barrystown, and his son Jonas had settled at Barrystown by 1709 (Jeffrey 1979, 67-8). The King family may have lived in the castle initially, but in time the castle became enmeshed in later work that has now all been removed. Archaeological testing (10E0145) in the area of the walled garden produce no related material (Whitty 2013). A coach-house c. 20m E of the tower house may retain early features.
