What is recorded here

Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map as settlement cluster named Barradaw East. Little survives; formerly thatched 5-bay, 1-storey, gable-ended structure is probably post 1842. It has off-centre doorway to left and two chimneys, one central, the second to right; roof now corrugated iron; occupied. Other dwellings and farm buildings appear to be post 1842. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
