What is recorded here
Soilmark of levelled bank of large circular enclosure (diam. c. 100m) visible in aerial photograph (Dr D.D.C. Pochin Mould, March 1994). Bank indicated on 1842, 1905 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps as arc of field fence NW->SE, forming part of subcircular field. Probably the 'cillin' recorded by Power (1932, 70-71) on Feeny's farm as 'unmarked by mound or enclosure'. Power (ibid., 71) also mentions a holy well (13939) close by.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
