Hut site in Treanmore (corran By.)

Hut site

What is recorded here

In the centre of a possible cashel (SL040-070001-). The hut is not visible at ground level. The outline of a roughly rectangular, possibly stone-built, structure is visible in an aerial photograph (CUCAP, AVI 78) taken in 1968. According to local information, the area was cleared of stone during land improvement in the 1970s and presumably the hut site was levelled at that time. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
