What is recorded here

Three clochauns stood in a north-south line on the lower slopes of Mount Eagle before time erased most of them. They reappeared only as shallow depressions inside a wedge-shaped cairn leaning against a field wall, hiding human shape beneath ordinary stone. What remains is a ghost of a dwelling, visible only when the eye stops looking for a monument and starts looking for a room.

On lower SE slopes of Mount Eagle. Macalister (1899, 239) noted 3 clochauns in a N-S line here. Very little of these is now traceable, the site surviving as a large wedge-shaped cairn abutting the E side of a N-S field wall. The partial outlines of 2 of the huts are traceable as depressions in the surface of this cairn, partly defined by wall-facing. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
