What is recorded here

No visible roof remains, only a circular wall of large flags set on edge and a floor already buried under fallen stone. The hut stands on a bare terrace at the foot of Gortaclare Mountain, close to another hut, animal pens, old fields and a wedge tomb, as if domestic life, herding and ritual all shared one narrow ledge. It is the kind of place where people may have worked, kept animals and remembered the dead before forgetting the names of every hand that built it.

On a terrace at the foot of a low S-facing ridge on Gortaclare Mountain, in an area of rough patchy grazing and bare rock pavement. A circular hut site (ext. diam. 3.5m) defined by a single wall of large flags set on edge. The interior is filled with stone. A second hut site (CL006-042008-) lies c. 10m to the SW and two animal pens are adjacent to NW and NE. The hut sites lie within an extensive and multiperiod field system (CL006-0420001-) and a wedge tomb (CL006-042009-) lies c. 60m to SE.
