Two forgotten hut circles sleep inside a broken ring at Cloghaunnanoon, hemmed by ferns and briars beside Smerwick Harbour. They are small enough to hide from a passing cart yet large enough to hold a family through a Kerry winter. The harbour still gives up its light and takes back its storms, while the huts keep their distance from memory.

Cloghaunnanoon/Clochán na nUamhan: Roughly circular ringfort KE042-058---- is situated in the low-lying crescent of land that surrounds Smerwick Harbour, about 100m N of the early ecclesiastical site at Reask (KE042-060001-). A close inspection of the remains is difficult due to a dense cover of ferns and briars but 2 hut-sites are visible in the interior. (1): A circular stone hut, c. 4.2m in diameter internally.
