Battle of Sheriffmuir is a major battle site with a checked map point.
Fought between Jacobite forces led by the Earl of Mar and government troops commanded by Viscount Dundee on 13 November 1715, the Battle of Sheriffmuir ended in a tactical draw but marked a turning point in the Jacobite rising of 1715. The battle mattered as it halted the Jacobite advance into England and contributed to the eventual failure of the rebellion against the Hanoverian succession.
