The Battle of Killiecrankie was fought on 27 July 1689 during the Jacobite rising of 1689. A Jacobite force led by Ewan Cameron of Lochiel and Viscount Dundee defeated a Scottish government army commanded by Lieutenant-general Hugh Mackay.
The Battle of Killiecrankie was fought on 27 July 1689 between Jacobite forces led by John Graham of Claverhouse, Viscount Dundee, and a Scottish government army under Lieutenant-General Hugh Mackay. The Jacobites won a tactical victory, but Dundee was killed, weakening their long-term position in the War of Scottish Succession.
