Clan Alpine

Steamship (period Unassigned)-(1917)

Why this matters

Clan Alpine was a British steamship built in 1917 that was lost during World War I when it was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-52 on 23 September 1917 in the North Atlantic, resulting in the loss of all 448 crew members. The ship was en route from New York to Liverpool, carrying a general cargo, and its sinking was a significant wartime tragedy.
