Golspie Tower vanished before modern cameras arrived, leaving only a heap of stone that a local man removed from in front of the farm cottage. The site once held a medieval tower and a two-storey house built near it, but by 1810 the structures had become farm stables for the Golspie Inn. A fire in 1970 destroyed the remaining roof and upper storey, prompting demolition in 1978 and the building of a new house from the old steadings.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Golspie Tower as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
