Urquhart Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Urquhart Castle as Timber Hall (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Urquhart Castle, located on the shores of Loch Ness, was originally built by the de Umfraville family in the 13th century and later held by the Clan Mackintosh. It is important due to its strategic position and long history of conflict, including its role in the Wars of Scottish Independence and its association with Scottish resistance to English rule.
