What is recorded here

Keiss Castle is a pair of twentieth-century Nissen huts beside the old castle, not the medieval stone tower itself. The old castle is a scheduled monument dating from the medieval period to 1900, while the huts belong to a later military or coastal-use tradition. Together they mark a place where defence kept returning: first as a castle, later as small stubborn shelters built for a newer kind of danger.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Keiss Castle as Nissen Hut(s) (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Keiss Castle is a 20th-century Nissen hut, built during World War II as part of the military infrastructure in Scotland. It is remembered as an example of temporary military architecture used for defense and logistical purposes during the war.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
