Inverlochy Castle stands as a medieval fortress in the Highland, built between 1058 and 1559 to command the narrow water where human ambition met marine resistance. Its stones still hold the shape of rooms where people lived, feared and raged before forgetting the names of those rooms. The castle does not need a hero to be great because it survived the kind of world that erases most human marks.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Inverlochy Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Inverlochy Castle was built by the MacDougall clan in the 13th century and later held by the Campbells, becoming a key site in the Wars of Scottish Independence. It is remembered for its strategic location near the River Lochy and its role in the 1645 Battle of Inverlochy during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.
