The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to Saint Donnan of Eigg, the well or site is associated with early Christian monastic activity on the island of Eigg, where the saint was martyred in the 7th century. Local tradition holds that the holy well or basin may have been used for baptism or healing rituals connected to his cult.
