Castle Stuart stands in Highland, a large mansion built by the Earl of Moray about 1625. The date 1625 appears on stones set high in the front and rear walls, marking the moment this place took its final shape. A predecessor of the present Earl became Baron Stuart of Castle Stuart in 1796, tying the family name to the building itself. The castle is still inhabited, its rooms occupied and its stones unchanged since the seventeenth century.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Stuart as Post (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Castle Stuart in Scotland was built by the Keith family in the 16th century and later held by the Crichton-Stuart family. It is remembered for its historical association with Scottish nobility and its strategic location on the Black Isle.
