Moyness Castle vanished into a rough pasture heap before memory could keep it, yet children still ran through its cellarage foundations in the 1940s and 1950s. The castle may have worn itself out under farm traffic, stone hunger and forgetting, but the young bodies knew its shape because it gave itself to them. What is missing is not emptiness; it is the difference between a dead ruin and a living place that has stopped answering human questions.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Moyness Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Moyness Castle was built in the 13th century by the Clan MacRae, a prominent Scottish clan in the Scottish Highlands. It is remembered as a strategic stronghold and a symbol of clan power in the region.
