What is recorded here

Redcastle stands on the Black Isle as a roofless shell where William the Lion erected Ederdour in the twelfth century. MacKenzies held it until 1790, but Rory MacKenzie burned it in 1659 during the Montrose rising. The wreckage still wears a 1641 stone and angel turrets that may date to the sixteenth century.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Redcastle as Castle (medieval), Motte (medieval)(possible), Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
