Contullich Castle stood in Easter Ross from the 11th century until men stripped its walls in 1826 to build a farm-house, erasing the fortress but embedding its stones inside ordinary domestic life. Human remains lay hidden within those walls, suggesting the castle swallowed people as much as it defended land. When drainage works reopened the ground decades later, wall foundations reappeared beneath the farmstead, proving the castle never fully departed.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Contullich Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Contullich Castle was built in the 16th century by the Keith family, a prominent Scottish noble family. It is remembered for its strategic location in the Scottish Highlands and as an example of early defensive architecture in the region.
