Poyntzfield

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Poyntzfield as Barrow (prehistoric), Rig and Furrow (medieval) - (post Medieval), Square Barrow(s) (iron Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Poyntzfield is a prehistoric barrow and Iron Age square barrow associated with later medieval agricultural features. Its significance lies in demonstrating long-term landscape use and the evolution of land use from funerary to agrarian practices.
