This bronze commemorative plaque records: On this spot stood the parsonage in which Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) was born on the 27th January 1832. An island farm 'mid seas of corn, swayed by the wandering breath of morn, the happy spot where I was born.
Rev Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, writing under the pen name Lewis Carroll, is renowned for his fantastical works "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass," which have become classics of children's literature and significant contributions to Victorian literature.
