Habitation site in Unknown Townland

Behind No. 19 Lord Edward Street, a post-and-wattle habitation level still lies buried within the medieval walled town of County Dublin. Excavated in 1994, the intact remains suggest ordinary people once lived beside the ancient boundary before the street swallowed them. The house may have belonged to a baker, a weaver or a child who scraped porridge from a wooden bowl. That much is lost, but the wall stands and the room waits beneath the pavement.
