What is recorded here

A small coffin-shaped slab of fossiliferous limestone still lies half-buried in the Kilkenny churchyard, its chamfered edge catching light after seven centuries. It may have covered a child, a servant or a forgotten priest, but no name remains to be read. The graveyard kept the stone, changed its use and still holds the mystery without explaining it.

At St Mary's parish church (KK019-026115-) in Kilkenny. A 13th/14th-century coffin-shaped graveslab (L 0.54m; Wth 0.46m; T 0.18m) with chamfered edge, made from fossiliferous limestone (Ó Drisceoil 2006, 37). Reused as grave maker in the graveyard (KK019-026156-) associated with the church. There is no legible inscription. It is partially buried.
