Grave Yard — Raheenadeeragh

Graveyard

Why this matters

A medieval ecclesiastical site; significance relates to its associated ruined church and possible burial function.

What is recorded here

On the roadside, in tillage. A large subrectangular area (c. 75m N-S; c. 60m E-W) is enclosed by a limestone wall with an entrance gate off the road to the N. The interior contains a ruined medieval church (KD034-005----) and a fragmentary font (KD034-005002-) to S of centre. Burials occur densely both around and in the church, and the earliest legible burials date to the 18th-century. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 26 November
