What is recorded here
Rock art in Gortleck, County Donegal, Ireland. A graveyard in the NE holds a low, irregular slab aligned NW-SE. Three circular cup marks form a triangle on its SW face, the largest near the centre and two smaller ones near the base. A cross-shaped marker elsewhere in the graveyard also bears cupmarks, tying these stones together under the same ancient hand.
Located in the NE of a graveyard (DG019-005001-).
This consists of a low, irregularly-shaped slab (max. Wth 0.35m; T 0.07m; exposed H 0.32m), aligned NW-SE, which is set upright in the ground and serves as a gravemarker. There are three well-defined, circular cup marks in a triangular arrangement on its SW face. The uppermost cupmark is the largest (diam. 0.07m; D 0.04m) and is located roughly in the centre of the stone. The other two cup marks are a few centimetres beneath this, at the base of the exposed stone face, and are roughly equal in size, and more or less in line side by side: the one to SE (diam. 0.06m; D 0.03m) being at a slightly higher level than the that (diam. 0.06m; 0.02m) to NW, which is partly concealed beneath the present ground level.
In the NW of the graveyard there is a stone gravemarker, roughly cross-shaped, which also bears cupmarks (DG019-005005-).
