What is recorded here
Doonglara Hillfort and another enclosure flank a forgotten circular dwelling in upland pasture, yet no human hand has marked the place on any map. The 22m bank still holds its shape beside stone ancestors, waiting for someone to walk the ridge and ask what life moved through that small circle before records began.
In upland pasture 320m SE of the summit of a hill which rises to 800 ft. (243m). Doonglara Hillfort (LI049-098----) lies 115m to NW and enclosure (LI049-099----) lies 80m to SE. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Visible as a circular-shaped area (diam c. 22m) enclosed by a bank with traces of an external fosse on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 18/11/2018.
See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
