Established this building (1841) as Gateshead Fell Reading Rooms and school, for Low Fell residents. Recorded plaque organisation: Gateshead Local History Society.
Thomas Wilson was a multifaceted figure in 19th-century Gateshead, known for his roles as a poet, educator, and community leader; he significantly contributed to local literacy and education by establishing the Gateshead Fell Reading Rooms and school in 1841.
