House, 16th/17th century

What is recorded here

A late 16th/ mid-17th-century gable and chimney is present in the S gable of no. 71 High Street (G.L. Ryan, Jeweller), indicating a house of similar age is incorporated into the present largely 19th-century house and commercial premises (Farrelly et al. 1993, 44). Excavations between the rear (E) of No. 71 High Street and the street frontage on the W side of Kieran Street undertaken by Sheila Lane (01E0254) revealed a circular well (int. diam. 1m) and c. 1.5m of medieval and post-medieval reclamation and make-up dumps (Lane 2002, unpublished; 2004, 277-8).
