Gannoughs

Gannoughs is a small islet in County Galway marked by a megalithic structure, likely built during the Neolithic period when communities were learning to farm and shape the land around them. The stones may have served the living as much as the dead, a place for gathering, remembering or orienting themselves against the sea. Whatever it was, it has outlasted the hands that placed it, keeping its shape through centuries of tide, weather and forgotten names.
