Ballinderry Castle is a five-storey 16th-century tower house in County Galway, owned by John Burke in 1574, with a pointed doorway, murder hole, spiral staircase, vaulted ceilings and a sheela-na-gig carved above the entrance. It stood on a raised platform that may have marked an earlier fortified courtyard, watching rolling Galway pasture through wars, neglect and the slow loss of its roof and floors.
