What is recorded here
Price (1949, 156) refers to a local tradition of a monastery in a field called ‘Bullock Park’ in Freynestown Upper townland. He states (1959, 165-6) that this may be the site of ‘the Anglo Norman church’ of Freynestown. He also describes (ibid.) a possible stoup with a shallow circular basin (diam. 0.22m; D 0.05m). This has not been located.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
