Pitreavie Castle, Dunfermline, Fife: A 20th-century pillbox stands in the castle grounds. Built during the great war anxiety, it is a small concrete room designed to hold a gun and fire across open ground. The castle around it is older and grander, but the pillbox belongs to the age when ordinary places became defensive.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dunfermline, Raf Pitreavie Castle, Pillbox as Pillbox (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built during World War II as part of Britain's coastal defense system, the pillbox at RAF Pitreavie Castle near Dunfermline was used to protect strategic military installations in the area. It is remembered as a relic of Scotland's wartime defenses.
