Murray and English forces broke Leuchars Castle in 1337, yet the doocot still stands near Fife. The castle changed from wooden motte to stone tower before disappearing, leaving only the pigeon house behind. Kings and queens may have hunted Tentsmuir nearby, but the doocot remains the clearest marker of what the land kept.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Leuchars Castle as Dovecot (17th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
