Myres Castle is a Z-plan fortress from 1530 with a 1616 tower, a basement that may be 14th-century, and wings added in 1700 and 1822. The name myres suggests a boggy place, fitting its fields, marginal drainage and runoff pond. The Macers of Falkland called it home, the crown held it after 1425, and later owners kept it as a working estate, conference venue and private house.
